At New Light, we are committed to providing hope, care, and opportunity to some of the most vulnerable members of society—the children and women living in the red-light districts of Kolkata. Founded in 2000, our mission is to break the cycle of intergenerational trafficking, exploitation, and poverty by offering safe havens, education, healthcare, and empowerment to over 250 children and their families each year.

Our programs provide comprehensive support, including formal and remedial education, vocational training, healthcare services, psychological counseling, and life-skill development. We operate multiple centers across the city, including residential homes for children and young adults, pre-primary education centers, and a community clinic serving over 500 individuals. These initiatives offer not just immediate relief but long-term solutions, empowering children to rise above their circumstances and women to gain financial independence and dignity.   • $20 school fees for one child per month
  • $50 will buy school uniforms and shoes for a child for one year
  • $60 will buy a child one year's school supplies (school bag, note books, textbooks, pens, pencils, other stationery etc)
  • $100 will meet a child's living expenses for one month at one of the residential facilities operated by New Light (food, clothes, healthcare, recreation etc)
  • $200 will provide comprehensive health care for one child for one year
  • $300 will provide a child's remidial tution fees, creative trainings, sports and co- curricular activities for one year.
  • $500 per year will support a young person's college education
  • $650 will provide comprehensive nutritional hot meals for a child for one year
  • $1000 a year will provide vocational/professional training for a young adult girl/boy after high school

For Women in prostitution and HIV positive people

  • $30 will buy one month's supply of infant formula for a baby whose mother is HIV+
  • $35 will buy food for one month for a destitute woman who has exited sex work and has no care givers
  • $40 a month will provide medical care to a woman in prostitution
  • $50 will provide food basket for one month for a destitute family whose household provider is HIV+ and cannot work
  • $100 will provide medical care and supplementary nutrition for one month for a HIV positive woman
  • $250 will meet a rescued girl's living expenses for one month (food, clothes, healthcare, counselling, recreation etc)
  • Small sums of money can make a big difference in the lives of victims of trafficking, vulnerable women forced into prostitution and their deprived children. Your generousity can create a diiferent world for them.
