Being in a band, playing an instrument, or simply listening to music, gives kids joy along with the freedom to express themselves. The learning benefits of music for our children at New Light can be broadly categorized into self-expression, imagination, fine motor skills and self control.

Music offers huge benefits. Regular practice promotes helps children learn diligence, conscientiousness, and prioritization. Through the audition and performance cycle, young musicians learn both - that hard work has rewards and that sometimes, even thought best isn't good enough, the journey can still be enjoyed.

In New Light, music helps develop children's language skills. Singing songs and reciting poems and rhymes with children helps them develop early literacy skills. Keeping a steady beat develops language. By clapping hands, stamping feet, and using rhythm instruments in time to music, the children, develop important pre-reading skills.
